Despite arguments from conservatives and the authors of the Graham – Cassidy bill that late night T.V. host Jimmy Kimmel doesn’t understand the bill, the comedian has continued his attacks on the bill which he says will price people with pre-existing conditions out of having insurance.
The bill’s author, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), said the comedian was uninformed and had adopted “some liberal talking points that are absolutely garbage.” He also told NBC News that “He bought it hook, line and sinker.”
The other author of the bill, Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.) told CNN “I’m sorry he does not understand.”
However, Kimmel shot back in his monologue “Which part don’t I understand? The part where you cut $243 billion dollars from federal health-care assistance? Am I not understanding the part where states would let insurance companies price you out of coverage for having pre-existing conditions? Could it be, Sen. Cassidy, that the problem is that I do understand and you got caught with your G-O-Penis out. Is that possible?”
America’s Health Insurance Plans, the health insurance industry’s largest lobbying group, also came out this week against the bill, saying it “pull[s] back on protections for pre-existing conditions.”
